Objective Statement

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is looking to derive a hydropower-based solution to enable 100% clean energy within a defined region through a case study analysis.

Statement of Needs

​

The Department of Energy has been trying to address the challenges of climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions. Over the past decades, renewable energy has been a solution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions but has been changing the electric grid demands. With the continued advancements in renewable energy sources and the changing electricity demands the electric grid is becoming increasingly complex, overstrained, and in need of grid modernization.
